COP30 launch of The Brazil 2025 City Solution Declaration

On Day 1 of the two-day COP30 event, Delivery on Human Needs in the 21st Century, a declaration from Brazilian cities was launched during the session, City-led Innovation with global potential.

Speaking at the launch were representatives from four Brazilian cities and municipalities, São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Campinas, and São José dos Campos:

  • Mário Muniz, Secretary of Innovation and Economy Development, São José dos Campos, Brazil.
  • Adriana Flosi, Secretary of Economy Development, Technology and Innovation, for the Municipality of Campinas.
  • Maurício Guedes, Superintendent of Innovation and Sustainability, for the State Secretariat for Economic Development, Industry, Commerce, and Services, Rio de Janeiro
  • Alessandro Bender, General Coordinator, Secretaria Executiva de Mudanças Climáticas de São Paulo (SECLIMA)

The declaration begins:

"In 2025, the innovation ecosystem leaders in Brazil’s cities present a new vision: not only to respond to global challenges within their borders, but to become solution providers for the world. We, from different parts of the innovation ecosystem—policy makers with focus on incubators, accelerators, tech parks, universities, investors, and entrepreneurs—embrace this opportunity to position our cities as engines of creativity, growth, and transformation."
