New report: How cities can support flourishing lives for an aging population while avoiding emissions with an expanded climate and innovation agenda: The case of Umeå

Cities that are innovation leaders are uniquely positioned to move beyond static problemapproaches to the climate challenge, where the only goal is territorial emission-reductions.Instead, they can also expand their approach and embrace the role of a solution providerwith a focus on human needs. In such a role they focus on delivering flourishing lives whilealso becoming global solution providers, supporting and exporting innovations that deliverflourishing lives for all on a flourishing planet. This report highlights Umeå as a case studyfor how mid-sized, agile cities can lead this transformation using Umeå’s world leading workin turning the need for flourishing lives for an aging population into a driver of innovation.
